CULTURE AND HISTORY
SPAN 404 Spanish Culture and Civilization:
Taken in Alicante, Spain, this course analyzed Spanish culture in various
regions of Spain, including religion,
food, school systems, and other
societal norms.

THEA 2100 Theatre Appreciation:
In this course we learned about the
origins of theatre, read and analyzed various plays and studied technical aspects of theatre and theatrical
events.

HIST 3420 South America Since 1800:
In this course we studied the independence movements of South America as well as the political, economic, and social structures of the selected regions.

HIST 404 20th Century Spain:
Taken in Alicante, Spain, this course covered the history of Spain from the 16th century to the present day, focusing on Spain’s political systems.
​
LANG 3400 Cosmopolis:
This course focused on the theoretical foundations of city structures as well as the history of the formation of cities through analyzation of literary texts.

ENGL 4420 Cultural Studies:
This course analyzed current events and used theoretical ideas to find similarities and differences between a wide variety of cultures.

ENGL 4500 Film Genres:
This course, accompanied by a film lab, analyzed films in respect to their corresponding genres, and studied the history of genres.

LANGUAGE
SPAN 2020 Intermediate Spanish:
This course developed and improved
skills in listening, speaking, reading,
and writing. Intermediate grammatical structures were reviewed.
SPAN 3020 Intermediate Spanish Grammar and Composition:
This course focused solely on written Spanish sentence structure and vocabulary. Syntax was introduced.
SPAN 3050 Intermediate Spanish Conversation and Composition:
Conversational Spanish was advanced through partner work and interactive presentations. Vocabulary and pronunciation were developed
SPAN 404 Spanish Composition I
Taken in Alicante, Spain, this course focused on advanced grammatical structures and word tense through verbal and written work.
SPAN 404 Spanish Composition II
Taken in Alicante, Spain, this course analyzed Spanish novels and plays, advanced sentence structures, and practiced listening and speaking skills.

LITERATURE AND HUMANITIES
ENGL 4360 Feminist Literary Criticism:
This course analyzed the development of feminism as an ideology through class discussion on various feminist literary theory and criticism.
ENGL 4510 Film Theory and Criticism:
This course focused on the history of film theory and applied various theories to selected films.
PHIL 1030 Introduction to Ethics:
This introductory course examined basic ethical issues and examined modes of ethical reasoning through philosophical texts and documentaries.
ENGL 4830 African American Literature:
This course read and analyzed literature written by African American authors during the time period between the Harlem Renaissance and the present. We examined a variety of literary movements and themes pertaining to certain historical contexts.
ENGL 4190 Postcolonial and World Literature:
This course examined postcolonial texts and looked at themes and conflicts discussed in the texts dealing with the effects of colonialism.

SPAN 3130 Survey of Spanish Literature:
This course explored literary movements and trends of the 17th century. Class discussions analyzed different popular authors and plot lines of the time period.

SPAN 4030 Spanish American Women Writers:
This course was a study and analysis of literature by Spanish American women, exploring their of philosophical and sociopolitical ideologies.

SPAN 4050 International Trade, Film, and Literature:
This course focused on Spanish films and short stories dealing with social and political events on Spain and Latin America.
